September 30: Let the mudding begin.
Bye, bye, laundry chute!
Patches in the bedroom ceiling.
Major crack repair in the bedroom.
The first coat hides a lot.
No one will ever know how bad this was.
Soon, the walls will be ready for painting.
This last day of the fourth month of construction saw the dining room almost finished with the first coat.
It will take almost a week to finish.
After four days of mudding, major seams are taped and covered.
Approximately 18 hours of mudding got us this far.
This big, fat seam will need a TON of mud to hide.
Temporary mess for what will be a beautiful room.
October 8, 2003: Kyle says he's done sanding.
It turns out he had to return because Ed didn't do his job.
This is supposed to be smooth and hidden by the paint.
I made Kyle come back for more mudding and sanding.
The stairwell required another hour of sanding.
Saturday we finish sand and paint.
October 11, 2003: See the difference?
Here is the sanded wall ready for paint.
This is just yellow tinted primer, not the final color.
Keith is here again. What would we do without him?
Annie does the south wall.
AIEE! Barbie room!
Nope. It's just tinted primer.
It will be red.
The ceiling shows no sign of the butt-joint.
I also paid Kyle to patch failing plaster upstairs.
The bedroom corner needed it badly.
The insulation hoels are now filled.
Eventually we will paint over them.
Major stress crack patched.
Two areas where the plaster separated from the wall... fixed.
The holes we made for the wiring are now covered.
Will anyone notice the laundry chute is gone?
